To be honest, I had to guess that Dad took it - I, of course, have no memory of who held the camera. But I've always loved that picture. I pretend it's from the Nantahala put-in, though I don't really know for sure.

Thanks for researching the answer to a question We have been wrestling with for a few weeks. We have a very large white oak in our front yard, and we kept saying we’ve never seen this many acorns! And many are sprouting!! Can’t wait to read more of your writings. You know I’m a big fan! ~Sabrina

Well that was wonderfully interesting. I had no clue about this "mast years" but it explains all the acorns. I also find it very interesting that out of all those acorns and seeds dropped by many trees....only ONE makes it. It's like all the sperm swimming to make it into the womb and having only one winner...it's just amazing!!! Loved your post. I look forward to reading more. Thank you.
