Hopefully you live far enough north that it will be a few years until they're up that way. The babies travel by "ballooning," catching the wind with little web-built sails, and can travel many miles that way. So the Joros are coming...
I cured a fear of spiders with knowledge/ curiosity when I was a child, so I really enjoyed this. While I'd probably freak out a bit if I face-splatted one of your Joro spiders while cycling, I think that they are really cool. Many years ago when I was doing some work in Mauritius and Rodrigues, I encountered a similar giant spider and thought that they were awesome. I'm concerned about invasive species though. Lets hope they fill themselves up on invasive stink bugs.
Happy to see all the pictures of the spiders than to see them "in person" like around my head!!!

I love your bio! "But I hate spiders!" :-)
Glad you liked it!

So often, knowledge is the key, right?! I'm trying hard to be fascinated by them - I just wish there were a bit fewer of them...
